It’s hard not to stop and take a million pictures of the amazing ocean and beaches surrounding islands in Hawaii. With the 10-22mm wide angle lens I rented for the trip, I found myself taking every opportunity to get as much of the beach in my shots as possible.
A collection of flower shots I took while on Maui. Also I included a random lizard, the white stuff hanging off of it’s nose is dead skin it’s shedding.
Every once in a great while, as a beginner photographer you get a shot that you would never think would turn out as good as it does. This finally happened to me while visiting Maui. We were at the Maui Tropical Plantation when I started to notice quite a few lizards running around on the plant leaves, so I started snapping as many shots as I could. I happened to catch one hanging upside down on the branch of a leaf and at the right moment snapped one of my favorite photos so far. There was very little editing done to this photo besides and increase in sharpness and exposure. I liked the results so much; I sent it off to have it printed on a canvas.

One of my favorite things to do while on Maui is eat. I’m not much of a fan of hamburgers, but one place in particular makes an amazing one that I just can’t stop coming back for. Cool Cat Cafe is a 50′s style diner hidden away in the Wharf Cinema Center in Lahaina, Maui. If you haven’t been there, it’s quite easy to miss. Next time you’re strolling front st and you happen to get to the banyan tree, look upstairs in the Wharf Cinema Center, you’ll notice it right away. Cool Cat Cafe has won best burger on Maui for the past 5 years in a row. I personally couldn’t agree more, as I ate there for lunch 3 of my 11 days there. Read more →
