The Wishing Tree

Chinese New Years was on Thursday, but the celebrations continued through the weekend. We headed out the the Hsi Lai Temple to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit, with the Chinese New Year Peace Lantern Festival. There was plenty of good food, music, and good times to be had for all.

One of the things that caught my interest was the wishing tree, for a $5 donation you were given 2 coins with a ribbons attached, once you’ve made your wish, you tossed the coin into the tree, and hopefully your wish comes true. I managed to capture a few good shots of the tree itself, some of the coins hanging, and a coin mid air after being thrown. Happy New Year! Taken using a Canon 7D.

Walter Payton Autographed Football

I received this Walter Payton autographed football 16 years ago, from a family member. The ink has faded quite a bit, but the name and number are still legible. This is probably one of my favorites in my collection of collectibles. Taken using a Canon 7D.

Just might be Related

I’m not positive, but I do believe these are all related. The pink ones I think are the beginning of the something in the Asteraceae or Compositae family, but I was unable to find anything that looked similar to them so, again, I’m not sure what they are. I guess if I’m going to continue to take photos of flowers, I should pick up a book and try to at least come up with the proper names for them.

Year of the Rabbit

This year is The Year of the The Rabbit, so the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas, is getting into the spirit of things and changed their conservatory & botanical gardens to celebrate. Since my son was born in the year of the rabbit I decided we’d better drop in and check things out.

Fun fact:
Apparently people born in the year of the rabbit are said to be articulate, talented, and ambitious.

Nuka-Cola Addict

Anyone who knows me knows I’m a HUGE fan of Fallout. I’ve managed to build up a decent collection of Fallout collectibles over the years from random gaming conventions and friends who were kind enough to send things my way. Today though, I decided to purchase some fan-made collectibles from Ebay, a Mentants container, some Nuka-Cola bottle caps, and some Sunset Sarsaparilla bottle caps. I was even lucky enough to acquire a Star Sunset Sarsaparilla cap! The Nuka-Cola itself however was acquired from Bethesda at E3 2008. Maybe later on I’ll take some photos of other items in my collection, but until then check these out.

You can order your own Nuka-Cola bottlecaps from ebay here.
