When we decided to make a trip to Washington in July, I figured we might as well fly into Portland because A: I like the airport better than SeaTac and B: Voodoo Doughnuts happens to be in Portland. I’m not quite sure where I first heard about Voodoo Doughnuts, may have been the travel channel or co-workers, but either way I knew I had to get my hands on one; specifically the Maple Bacon Bar.
Voodoo Doughnuts could be considered a dive, or perhaps a psychedelic or stoner’s dream come true? Either way, the donuts that they produce are pretty amazing. We ended up buying; 4 maple bacon bars, no name, captain my captain, cock and balls (with luscious crème filling), a gay bar, and a dirt doughnut. By far my favorite was the maple bacon bar, it doesn’t come with just bacon bits on it either, it has 2 nice strips of delicious bacon on top of it. The No Name was also pretty good; a chocolate doughnut with Rice Krispies sprinkled on top, I didn’t happen to try the gay bar or the cock and balls; mainly due to the intimidating size and shape of it. My son had the dirt doughnut and the captain my captain and enjoyed both. I will say this, don’t get any of the cereal covered doughnuts if you are planning on saving them, the cereal goes stale super quick. The maple bacon bar, however, lasted a few days, and was still pretty good.
Voodoo Doughnut Too!
